“Figaro Coffee Group Posts Strong Growth in 2024”

Figaro Coffee Group, Inc. (FCG), the holding company behind popular food and beverage brands including Figaro Coffee, Angel’s Pizza and Tien Ma’s Taiwanese Cuisine, announced an impressive 27% growth in consolidated revenues, reaching ₱5.45 billion for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024 compared to P4.28 billion for the same period last year. This was largely propelled by a record 57 new store openings—80% of which were Angels Pizza stores.

FCG’s Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Pet Español III, highlighted the company’s ability to improve gross margins from 45% to 47% despite inflationary challenges. “Through efficient cash management and cooperation with valued suppliers, we continue to maximize our operating cash flow. This disciplined approach helped offset global inflation pressures, enhancing our gross margins by 2 percentage points,” Español explained.

In addition to top-line growth, the group achieved a healthy net profit after tax of ₱628.4 million or 12%, a 36% increase compared to the previous fiscal year. Operating expenses were maintained at 35% of revenues, reflecting FCG’s focus on operational efficiency even as it expanded its store network from 167 to 206 locations by June 2024.

The strong momentum continued into the first quarter July to Sept 2024 of FCG’s fiscal year 2025, with revenues rising by 6% to ₱1.39 billion and net income after tax growing by 17% year-over-year, reaching ₱103.5 million.

Beko sends love to homes in Gawad Kalinga through Home Buddies Fiesta outreach

Healthy living starts at home and extends to the community. Beko, a European appliance brand, believes that making a meaningful impact beyond the household will help create a healthier and better environment for the broader community and future generations.

As part of its commitment, Beko participated in the vibrant celebration of the Home Buddies Fiesta outreach program which uplifted the Gawad Kalinga village in Laguerta, Muntinlupa, on November 10. Home Buddies, launched in 2020, is the largest Facebook community of home enthusiasts in the Philippines, with over 3 million members.

Home Buddies celebrates its anniversary each year by giving back to the community. Now in its fourth year, Home Buddies partnered with Beko and 50 volunteers from its online community to serve around 128 families, including 200 to 300 children, within the Gawad Kalinga Village. Different teams focused on various areas of support: #TeamPinta (community repainting), #TeamBusog (feeding program), #TeamSaya (GK Paraisong Pambata program for kids), and #TeamAlaga (overall event organizing team).

Frances Lim Cabatuando, the founder of Home Buddies and fondly known as Mayora Frances, shared the inspiration for this year’s celebration, which is based on the Filipino Fiesta tradition.

“A Filipino Fiesta is made up of three elements: (1) the community coming together, (2) there’s fun and food for everyone, (3) and it has to be a meaningful celebration. We thought it was the perfect theme for this year’s outreach,” said Frances.

Beko representatives participated in heartwarming programs for kids, staged a booth for participants to enjoy more activities, and sponsored an event segment where community kids played games and took home prizes.

DigiPlus, BingoPlus Foundation give ₱37M aid to families of Typhoon Kristine casualties in largest relief effort to date

In response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Kristine, BingoPlus Foundation, the social development arm of DigiPlus Interactive, formally distributed ₱37 million in financial aid to families affected by Typhoon Kristine. In the wake of 148 confirmed casualties nationwide, at least ₱250,000 was committed to each bereaved family, as a symbol of compassion and support for their journey to recovery. The initiative started with 39 bereaved families during a turnover ceremony on November 10, at Talisay New Municipal Grounds in Batangas and will continue in several parts of the country. This pledge will continue to support affected families in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Pinky Romualdez and DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco were joined by Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas, Batangas Vice Governor Mark Leviste, Talisay Mayor Nestor Natanauan, Bacolod Mayor Albie, BingoPlus Foundation COO Celeste Jovenir and local leaders and community members to personally hand over the financial aid. The event highlighted the Foundation’s mission to multiply the good by extending meaningful support to Filipinos in their time of greatest need.

Typhoon Kristine, one of the year’s most devastating storms, left a trail of destruction across South Luzon, with severe flooding and landslides resulting in significant loss of life and damage to property. Talisay, particularly impacted by landslides in Batangas, is one of the focus areas of the Foundation’s relief efforts as the entire province was declared in a state of calamity.

Together with ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya, BingoPlus Foundation also extended support to 1,000 families impacted by Typhoon Kristine in Isabela, Aurora, Pangasinan and Quezon. These immediate actions underscore the Foundation’s dedication to its resilience pillar, showcasing its commitment to making a difference when communities need it most.
