LAUNCHING JOYFUL WELLNESS: A MOVEMENT MAKING HEALTH PERSONAL, PRACTICAL, AND JOYFUL

0

The Joyful Wellness campaign, launched by NEXT, is a first-of-its-kind, a multi-platform movement that redefines what it means to live well.

A campaign that aims to empower Filipinos to live healthier, happier lives, Joyful Wellness offers a fresh, exciting approach to wellness that is rooted in self-awareness, backed by science, and made joyful through community. The campaign was shaped by insights from a diverse group of health professionals, including contributions from LifeScience Center.

“Joyful Wellness is about meeting people where they are and helping them move forward with intention and optimism,” says Booboo Atayde Alvendia, NEXT’s Head of Business Development. “By combining science-backed tools with real-life inspiration, we aim to turn wellness from something intimidating into something joyful, personal, and sustainable.”

Joyful Wellness is a movement that sees transformation as a process, celebrates individuality, and emphasizes empowerment through education, accessible resources, and daily habits that make a real impact.

A Mindset Shift in Motion

The heart of the campaign is rooted in a vital shift: from viewing wellness as a clinical, overwhelming task to embracing it as a joyful, sustainable lifestyle that everyone deserves. Joyful Wellness recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to health.

Inspired by the science-based, patient-centered approach of Functional Medicine, the campaign encourages people to tune into their bodies, explore their unique needs, and take small, meaningful steps — whether they are just becoming health-curious or already championing wellness in their circles.

What Sets Joyful Wellness Apart?

While other health and wellness efforts tend to focus on outcomes, Joyful Wellness is all about the process. It recognizes that wellness is not just physical — it’s also mental, emotional, social, and behavioral.

With seven core pillarsNutrition, Beauty, Mental Health, Longevity, Disease Prevention, Health Innovation, and Joy — the campaign invites everyone to explore wellness in ways that resonate with their personal journeys.

It encourages people to build self-awareness, seek expertise, and become experts of their own bodies. In doing so, Joyful Wellness supports not just individual transformation, but national progress.

Imagine a nation where people know better – and choose to do better. That’s the heart of Joyful Wellness.

Duke Frasco’s fatherhood and public service converge in the Liloan Children’s Hospital

0

Long before the ceremonial shovels broke ground in July 2024, the vision for the Liloan Children’s Hospital had already taken root; not in a legislative chamber, but in the heart of a young mayor who had just begun his public service journey.

In 2007, Vincent Franco “Duke” Frasco assumed office as Mayor of Liloan, Cebu. Among the many goals he set for the growing municipality, one dream quietly persisted: to build a hospital devoted entirely to the needs of children. It was an aspiration born from both governance and growing empathy—a belief that healthcare, especially for the youngest and most vulnerable, should be closer to home and tailored to their unique needs.

Nearly two decades later, that dream has become a national statute.

Now serving a fresh mandate as Representative of Cebu’s 5th District, Frasco authored House Bill No. 8274, the cornerstone legislation that led to the enactment of Republic Act No. 11886 in 2022. The law paved the way for the establishment of the Liloan Children’s Hospital, which is now taking shape as a pioneering pediatric facility not just for Liloan, but for Cebu, the Visayas, and beyond.

For Frasco, the fulfillment of this project is more than a legislative milestone. It is deeply personal. “Becoming a father changes the way you look at the world,” he shared. “Suddenly, policy isn’t just policy, it becomes personal. You begin to see the cracks in the system not just as gaps in governance, but as potential dangers for your own children. And so you act, not just as a leader, but as a parent.”

Frasco is a proud father of four, and his journey through parenthood has profoundly influenced the way he approaches public service. The sleepless nights, the hospital visits, the constant worry and boundless hope that come with raising children; all of these, he says, have shaped his understanding of what families truly need.

But what sets this vision apart is that it doesn’t end with his own family. The concerns he carries as a father are the same ones he has chosen to confront as a lawmaker. “With every decision, I think about my own children. But I also think about the children in Liloan, in the 5th District, and across Cebu; those whose parents may not have the means or access to proper healthcare. That’s where public service steps in.”

The Liloan Children’s Hospital, now rising from blueprint to reality, is a reflection of this conviction. It is a structure that represents not only a legislative triumph, but a father’s pledge to safeguard the future of an entire generation.

Once completed, the hospital will offer comprehensive pediatric and maternal health services, including prenatal care, emergency response, immunization, nutrition counseling, parenting education, and more. It also mirrors a broader national vision shared by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to decentralize specialized healthcare services and make them more accessible to the Visayas and Mindanao.

What began as a mayor’s aspiration is now becoming a father’s legacy.

“In every policy we write, every project we break ground on, we are laying bricks not just for our constituents’ future, but for our children’s,” Frasco said. “This hospital is a commitment to both.”

As construction continues, the Liloan Children’s Hospital stands as a testament to the power of sustained vision that is shaped by leadership, yes, but also by love, hope, and the quiet urgencies that come with being a parent.

The event, dubbed the ‘TCL Basketball Camp,’ took place at Araullo High School in Manila, gathering top basketball players from professional and collegiate leagues. To kickstart the program, a contract signing ceremony officially sealed the partnership between TCL Electronics and Araullo High School. TCL CEO Peter Chen, TCL Deputy Marketing Director Shae Yu, TCL Deputy Product Director of Air Conditioner Bert Cheung, TCL Brand Manager Joseph Cernitchez, together with Rain or Shine Assistant Brand Manager Red Magcase, and Araullo High School Assistant School Principal II Ms. Ebuena P. “We’re happy to launch this partnership officially. As we celebrate International Olympic Day and our status as the Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, this basketball clinic perfectly embodies TCL’s commitment to ‘Inspire Greatness’ among hopeful kids who aspire to do their best in the field of basketball,” shared Peter Chen, TCL Philippines CEO.

TCL Champions School Sportsmanship

Giving an enthusiastic vibe to the collaboration between TCL and Araullo High School, a newly refurbished TCL basketball court was unveiled, making it even more enticing and functional for aspiring student-athletes. The 4,700 square feet basketball court and 2,072 square feet outside basketball court lines were refreshed in collaboration with Rain or Shine, who provided the paint materials. TCL TVs and air-conditioning units worth ₱300,000 were also donated to further enhance the basketball court and school facilities.

To kick off the basketball activities, TCL Deputy Product Director of Air Conditioner, Bert Cheung, performed the ceremonial first shot. Followed by the main highlight of the whole event, the Basketball Clinic, which was facilitated by Better BasketballPH Skills Camp, wherein forty young athletes participated. Adding to the excitement was JD Cagulangan, UP Fighting Maroon and Suwon KT Sonicboom’s Rookie of the Year in the Korean Basketball League (KBL), who provided guidance and inspiration. JD joined the basketball clinic and shot hoops with the participants.

TCL’s brand partner, Blackwater Coach Jeffrey Cariaso, also participated, sharing his basketball expertise through a concise coaching principles session specifically for PE coaches. Joining Coach Jeffrey in the discussion is Araullo High’s Head Teacher VI, MAPEH Department, Mr. Augusto D. Baldoz.

UP Fighting Maroon and Suwon KT Sonicboom’s Rookie of the Year in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) JD Cagulangan joined the basketball clinic and shot hoops with the participants.

Upholding the Olympic Spirit

Also in line with the first global celebration of Olympic Day as a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, TCL was honored in a special ceremony on June 22, with its name added to the Donors’ Wall at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland. This recognition highlights TCL’s significant contribution to smart terminals and display solutions, which are set to enhance the development of sports and culture through innovative technology. The ceremony saw key representatives from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), including President Thomas Bach and President-elect Kirsty Coventry, Olympic Museum Director Angelita Teo alongside Chief Operating Officer of TCL Technology Kevin Wang, who unveiled a commemorative marble brick engraved with TCL’s logo. This permanent addition signifies TCL’s outstanding contributions to the international Olympic movement, echoing the Olympic spirit of “Faster, Higher, Stronger—Together” and TCL’s commitment to “Inspire Greatness.”

Further extending this collaboration, TCL was invited to witness the historic inauguration of Kirsty Coventry as the 10th IOC President on June 23, marking a new chapter for the Olympic movement. Coventry’s groundbreaking leadership as the first female and first African IOC President resonates deeply with TCL’s ‘TCLforHer’ initiative, a platform dedicated to empowering women globally through technology and culture. To amplify the Olympic Day celebrations worldwide, TCL also launched its first global campaign, inspired by the IOC’s “Let’s Move” initiative. This campaign includes a dynamic film bridging two future Winter and Summer Olympic host cities through the power of TCL display technology.

Leading up to the 2025 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, TCL will continue the momentum sparked by this campaign to build on its 30th legacy in sport, furthering its collaboration with the IOC to support cultural engagement with cutting-edge technology and advance the Olympic movement’s evolution.

To Even Greater Sporting Events

More than simply providing what people need, TCL seeks to ignite hope and aspiration through this basketball event, sharing a truly admirable spirit.

“Through this endeavor, we aim to impart Olympic values to our Filipinos. We hope our partnership with Araullo High School becomes a hub for more vibrant, engaging activities, inspiring people to connect and celebrate through sports. Here’s to more exciting and fulfilling events like this in the future!” TCL Philippines Chief Executive Officer, Peter Chen excitedly stated.

Globe and CANVAS launch year-long exhibit celebrating art, children’s rights, and online safety at the National Museum

0

The halls of the National Museum are coming to life with color, curiosity, and purpose, as Globe partners with the Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) to open a unique year-long exhibit titled “Tumba-Tumba: A Retrospective.”

Celebrating CANVAS’ 20th year of promoting children’s literacy and Philippine art and culture, the exhibit features interactive installations, striking artworks, and powerful storytelling—all curated with young minds in focus. Designed to spark imagination and dialogue, the exhibit invites children to explore their rights, the power of creativity, and how to navigate an increasingly digital world.

“This partnership is about creating a space where learning and play come together, and where kids can better understand how to protect themselves online,” said Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Chief Privacy Officer at Globe. “Through art, we can engage children in ways that are both meaningful and memorable.”

Among the exhibit’s centerpieces is the award-winning Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy, a book co-produced by Globe and CANVAS that helps children understand the value of personal information and how to stay safe in the digital world. Visitors can interact with materials inspired by the book, reinforcing lessons on online boundaries, digital footprints, and respectful behavior on the internet.

The exhibit is also a preview of CANVAS’ upcoming Tumba-Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art, currently being built in Ibaan, Batangas. Just an hour and a half from Manila, the museum will be the first of its kind in the country—a space devoted to Filipino children, storytelling, and creativity.

“We’ve always believed that art can move, teach, and transform. ‘Tumba-Tumba’ is a celebration of that belief,” said Gigo Alampay, Executive Director of CANVAS. “Thanks to partners like Globe, we’re able to bring these stories to more children—and help them grow up informed, expressive, and empowered.”

Globe’s support for the exhibit is part of its broader commitment to safeguarding children’s rights online. Over the past three years, Globe has proactively blocked more than a million URLs linked to sexual abuse or exploitation of children (OSAEC) and recently extended protections to cover AI-generated and non-photographic content.

Through this exhibit, Globe continues to champion digital responsibility—reminding families that online safety starts with awareness, and that even the simplest tools, like a children’s book or a piece of art, can make a lasting difference.

The “Tumba-Tumba” exhibit opens to the public on June 13, 2025 and will run at the National Museum for an entire year.

INAX and Builderware bring Japanese bathroom technology to Visayas

0

Over the years, bathrooms have evolved from being mere functional spaces into oases of wellness and tranquility especially in hospitality and residential spaces. Japanese bathroom innovations have played a significant role in this transformation, allowing users to have an enjoyable and seamless bathroom experience, thanks to their one-of-a-kind toilet technologies.

This was further highlighted during the recently concluded INAX Build Well with Builderware in Tagbilaran, Bohol. A collaborative event of INAX and Builderware, the momentous occasion gathered architects and contractors based in Bohol to discuss the latest trends in construction and design specifically in the hospitality and residential spaces. Present to show his support to this initiative was Reginald Ong, Builderware’s president.

The event showcased INAX as a leading sanitary brand, giving emphasis to its long history in bathroom innovations that can now be offered in the Visayas region. For example, the Aquaceramic technology makes smooth, stain-repellant surfaces possible,  allowing stubborn dirt to be washed away by a simple flush. Meanwhile, the Plasmacluster effectively disinfects airborne and bacteria on the surface of the bowl and prevents odor, while its Foam cushion technology minimizes urine splashback and muffles water noise. To keep the bathroom smelling fresh all the time, INAX ‘s Air Shield deodorizer creates a barrier within the bowl to prevent odors from escaping into the atmosphere while powerfully removing odors, while the Room refresh function uses ions to refresh even the toilet surrounding at a preferred time each day. Finally, INAX also makes SATIS, the world’s most compact tankless shower toilet, available to Bohol-based architects and contractors. These technologies were presented during the event, including the Satis G, SARAS, S400 series and the S100 series.

“This collaboration brings together INAX’s legacy of Japanese craftsmanship and design with Builderware’s all-in-one construction ecosystem—redefining how modern spaces are built and experienced,” noted Florlyn Matildo, leader of LIXIL Water Technology, INAX Brand Philippines.

LG LAUNCHES “RADIO OPTIMISM” CAMPAIGN TO SPREAD “LIFE’S GOOD” THROUGH MUSIC

0

LG Electronics (LG) launched a new brand campaign, “Radio Optimism,” designed to help strengthen meaningful human connections and spread optimism through shared musical experiences. This initiative aligns with LG’s brand promise, “Life’s Good,” and addresses the growing challenge of forming genuine relationships in a technology-driven world.

The Radio Optimism campaign seeks to counteract the disconnection often felt in an era dominated by superficial interactions, such as likes and comments on social media. By harnessing the power of music, LG aims to foster deeper bonds among individuals, promoting a more fulfilling life.

“As technology advances, meaningful human connections become increasingly vital to enrich our lives. LG continues its commitment to bringing optimism into customers’ daily lives, staying true to our enduring brand promise of ‘Life’s Good,’” said Kim Hyo-eun, head of LG’s Brand Management Division.

This campaign reinforces LG’s commitment to creating enriching experiences in digital spaces where today’s consumers spend significant time. Building on this mission, LG has continuously engaged with younger audiences through participatory campaigns that bring the Life’s Good philosophy to life. Last year’s “Optimism your feed” campaign leveraged social algorithms to foster positivity on social media. This new initiative specifically seeks to address the paradoxical disconnection in an era of hyper-connectivity.

“One of the most reliable predictors of happiness is having deep and meaningful relationships,” said Jean M. Twenge, Professor of Psychology at San Diego State University. “Yet today, many people are spending more time online and less time connecting in person. Social media in particular tends to create shallow relationships rather than the deep connections people need. It’s common for people to have hundreds of followers but no one to talk to in real life if they need support. We need to build more meaningful connections with those around us. That might turn around the pronounced decline in happiness that’s occurred over the last decade.”

A new global study* from LG on social connection reveals that 68% of people find it harder to make real friends, and a third reported having one or fewer meaningful connections in the past month, with 8% experiencing none at all. Inspired by traditional radio’s unique way of connecting people through music and storytelling, the Radio Optimism campaign transforms this concept into an interactive platform where participants can create and send personalized songs to their loved ones. Users can easily create new songs using AI-powered tools, which are thoroughly trained on a curated music dataset. These tools interpret user prompts to produce unique musical pieces and generate matching album art, providing an engaging and personalized experience. Once generated, these songs can be sent to recipients to deepen their connection and made available for others to discover worldwide.

According to the survey, nearly 9 in 10 respondents believe that meaningful connections lead to a more optimistic outlook on life. By providing a platform for individuals to express their feelings, this campaign aims to foster deeper connections and help individuals enrich their lives while spreading optimism in their own ways.

The campaign website is available in English and Spanish, with plans to support additional languages in the coming months to enable broader participation. The official website can be found at RadioOptimism.lg.com. More details can be found on www.lg.com/lifesgood/.

Life isn’t just about having the latest technology—it’s about the meaningful experiences it creates and the impact it brings to our everyday lives.
