Taiwan Expo 2025 Opens in the Philippines: Strengthening Bilateral Ties Through Innovation

The highly anticipated Taiwan Expo 2025 in the  Philippines officially opened today at the SMX Convention Center, bringing together government  officials, business leaders, innovators, and industry experts to celebrate the deepening ties between  Taiwan and the Philippines. The three-day event, organized by the Taiwan External Trade  Development Council (TAITRA) and Taiwan International Trade Administration (TITA), showcases  Taiwan’s cutting-edge technologies and solutions across multiple industries, while fostering stronger  bilateral partnerships. 

A Celebration of Cooperation and Shared Values 

In his keynote, Representative Wallace Minn-Gan Chow of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office  in the Philippines, emphasized that the Expo embodies not just trade, but shared aspirations.  “Taiwan Expo 2025 in the Philippines is more than a showcase of products—it is a vital platform for  strengthening business connections, aligning policies, and deepening industrial collaboration,” he  said. He pointed out how Taiwan’s expertise in ICT, green technology, and smart manufacturing  complements the Philippines’ focus on telecommunications, green energy, agro-processing, and  industrial growth. 

Director Wilson U. Tecson of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) highlighted the  Expo as “a living testament to partnership and trust.” He noted that initiatives like the Taiwan– Philippines Economic Corridor reflect how cooperation has advanced from dialogue to action,  enabling industries in both nations to innovate together. “This is not just about technology—it is  about resilience, progress, and ensuring a better future for our peoples,” he said. 

For her part, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) President Enunina Mangio  reaffirmed the local business sector’s commitment to closer collaboration. She encouraged Filipino  companies to maximize the Expo’s B2B networking sessions, pointing out that opportunities span  from technology transfer and talent exchange to joint ventures. “Each effort we make together  expands markets, creates opportunities, and sets the stage for even greater industrial progress,” she  said. 

A Symbolic Jersey Exchange 

One of the ceremony’s most memorable moments was the signing and swapping of jerseys  between TAITRA Chairman James Huang and MECO Director Wilson Tecson. The gesture, inspired  by sportsmanship, symbolized teamwork, unity, and a long-term commitment to collaboration.

Ballet Manila reawakens Florante at Laura with creative powerhouse

The restaging of Francisco Balagtas’ masterpiece is a rare opportunity to experience once again the timeless epic reimagined through myth, music and classical ballet.

After a critically acclaimed world premiere marked by overwhelming audience response, Ballet Manila’s Florante at Laura returns to Aliw Theater, with performances scheduled on October 3 at 8:00 PM, and October 4 and 5 at 5:00 PM.

For Ballet Manila’s founder and artistic director Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, the return of Florante at Laura is not a rerun but a reckoning with our collective appreciation of our Filipino heritage. It is a rare opportunity to experience once again Francisco Balagtas’ timeless epic reimagined through myth, music and dance. Lisa has long championed Filipino storytelling through classical ballet, and this re-staging affirms that vision with renewed clarity.

“Bringing Florante at Laura back to the stage feels like coming full circle. The first run was a dream realized; the second at Areté affirmed that Filipino stories, when told with care and conviction, truly resonate. Audiences can expect the full force of Ballet Manila’s creative ensemble once again. The production features live music performed by the Orchestra of the Filipino Youth under the baton of Toma Cayabyab, interpreting the original score composed by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.

“To be able to hear the score again, seeing it move—it’s like watching a memory evolve. I wrote this as a legacy piece, but its return reminds me that legacy isn’t static. Ballet Manila has given the music new breath, and I feel grateful. This re-staging proves that our classics still have something urgent to say.” said Ryan.

Choreographers Gerardo Francisco Jr. and Martin Lawrance collaborate anew to shape the ballet’s emotional terrain, drawing out the tension and tenderness within Balagtas’ verse. The libretto, adapted by Dr. Michael Coroza, anchors the production in language that bridges tradition and movement.

Transporting the audiences back to the kingdom of Berbania, set designer Mio Infante and costume designer Therese Arroyo also return to define the ballet’s visual language. Drawing from Persian motifs and Filipino sensibilities, their work complements the choreography and narrative, shaping a world that moves in step with the story.

Honda Philippines, Inc., the country’s No. 1 motorcycle manufacturer hosted the PCXceptional Ride on August 29, 2025 giving Media representatives and Moto vloggers a first-hand experience of The All-New PCX160’s premium performance and comfort.

The event aimed for representatives to experience the scooter’s standout and elevated performance, exceptional comfort, and smart features. More importantly, it showcased exactly where The All-New PCX160 truly excels—out on the open road.

Featuring both the Standard and RoadSync variants of The All-New PCX160 Honda’s new premium scooter, the ride began at the Honda Safety Driving Center in Parañaque City, heading towards Café Cecilia in Tanay, Rizal. The participants explored the scenic roads of Tanay, which is ideal for its perfect blend of urban, uphill and countryside riding.

Elevated performance, control, and ride quality in a stylish package

The All-New PCX160’s performance was a highlight for riders on the twisty roads from Parañaque to Tanay. The smooth acceleration from its 157cc, 4-stroke, 4-valve, SOHC (Single Overhead Cam), Liquid-Cooled, ESP+ engine was more than enough to handle the route, with riders appreciating its power output of 11.8 kW at 8,500 rpm and torque of 14.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Its impressive fuel efficiency of 46 km/L also made it an excellent companion for the long journey ride. They also feel a more comfortable ride with the spacious foot area.

Participants felt confident and in control, especially with the RoadSync type’s advanced safety features. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) provided enhanced braking stability, which participants found useful, especially in wet conditions. For sudden acceleration, the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) was a standout feature, ensuring improved traction and stability. The twin shock rear suspension with subtanks on the RoadSync type provided excellent damping performance. They also noted more riding experience. As for the Standard type, the Combi Brake System on its front and rear disc brakes provided reliable stopping power.

The ride’s superior styling turned heads, with its newly designed All-LED lights. The sleek color choices, like Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Fadeless White for the RoadSync type and Vortex Red Metallic, Pearl Fadeless White, and Matte Bullet Silver for the Standard type, drew admiration from fellow motorists.

Smart and practical features for the city and countryside

Participants also praised its smart and practical features, designed to make both city and countryside riding more convenient. The Honda Smart Key System, with its convenient keyless operation and anti-theft immobilizer, was a popular feature. The built-in USB Type-C charger was appreciated for its modern compatibility and fast-charging capability, keeping devices powered throughout the ride. Another practical addition was the spacious 30-liter luggage box, which provided secure and weather-resistant storage for their things.

Riders on the RoadSync type particularly enjoyed the integrated technology. They took full advantage of the Honda RoadSync system, which, when paired with a smartphone, allowed them to access turn-by-turn navigation, music, calls, and messages. This was all hands-free, thanks to the intuitive multi-function switch on the left handlebar and voice human-machine interface (HMI). The 5-inch TFT meter panel received praise for its enhanced visibility, both day and night, and its user-friendly display of information. The passing light switch was also an important detail that provided an extra layer of safety and improved visibility, especially when overtaking.

The participants of the PCXceptional Ride were in good spirits when they arrived at Café Cecilia. The event concluded with refreshments and snacks while enthusiastically discussing their riding experience.
