Globe and CANVAS launch year-long exhibit celebrating art, children’s rights, and online safety at the National Museum

The halls of the National Museum are coming to life with color, curiosity, and purpose, as Globe partners with the Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) to open a unique year-long exhibit titled “Tumba-Tumba: A Retrospective.”

Celebrating CANVAS’ 20th year of promoting children’s literacy and Philippine art and culture, the exhibit features interactive installations, striking artworks, and powerful storytelling—all curated with young minds in focus. Designed to spark imagination and dialogue, the exhibit invites children to explore their rights, the power of creativity, and how to navigate an increasingly digital world.

“This partnership is about creating a space where learning and play come together, and where kids can better understand how to protect themselves online,” said Atty. Irish Salandanan-Almeida, Chief Privacy Officer at Globe. “Through art, we can engage children in ways that are both meaningful and memorable.”

Among the exhibit’s centerpieces is the award-winning Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy, a book co-produced by Globe and CANVAS that helps children understand the value of personal information and how to stay safe in the digital world. Visitors can interact with materials inspired by the book, reinforcing lessons on online boundaries, digital footprints, and respectful behavior on the internet.

The exhibit is also a preview of CANVAS’ upcoming Tumba-Tumba Children’s Museum of Philippine Art, currently being built in Ibaan, Batangas. Just an hour and a half from Manila, the museum will be the first of its kind in the country—a space devoted to Filipino children, storytelling, and creativity.

“We’ve always believed that art can move, teach, and transform. ‘Tumba-Tumba’ is a celebration of that belief,” said Gigo Alampay, Executive Director of CANVAS. “Thanks to partners like Globe, we’re able to bring these stories to more children—and help them grow up informed, expressive, and empowered.”

Globe’s support for the exhibit is part of its broader commitment to safeguarding children’s rights online. Over the past three years, Globe has proactively blocked more than a million URLs linked to sexual abuse or exploitation of children (OSAEC) and recently extended protections to cover AI-generated and non-photographic content.

LG Philippines brought together art, technology, and heritage at the National Museum of Natural History through a special partnership that exemplifies the beauty and diversity of Philippine geography and identity. The centerpiece of the event was “Fragments”, a solo art exhibition created in collaboration with Isaiah Cacnio, the first digital and motion graphics artist to be featured at the National Museum.

This immersive exhibit harnesses cutting-edge LG OLED display technology to reinterpret the Earth’s story, shining a spotlight on the extraordinary geological and ecological richness of the Philippines. From volcanic beginnings to weathered stone and flowing water, the exhibit captures the powerful natural forces that have shaped both the physical landscape and the spirit of the Filipino people.

Running for an entire month, the exhibit invites visitors to the Ayala Reception Hall on the second floor of the National Museum of Natural History to explore the nation’s rich biological history through three captivating digital pieces: “Where Fire Begins,” “Stories in Stone,” and “What Breaks, Flows”, all brought to life by LG OLED AI TVs. These works were created using mathematical formulas to generate organic, dynamic visuals—blending algorithmic precision with emotional depth. By integrating computational methods with artistic expression, the exhibit seamlessly combines art, science, and emotion to reflect the Philippines’ geological and cultural evolution. As Cacnio explains, “Even in fracture, there is flow. Even in separation, there is connection.” His work reminds us that, just as nature molds the Earth, shared history and resilience continue to shape our identity as a people.

Our immune system is one of the most effective forms of defense against viral infections. There are two categories of immune functions in everyone’s body – innate immunity which prevents diseases from entering the body, and adaptive immunity which eliminates or prevents the growth of pathogens, such as viruses and bacteria, in the body.

In a person who is malnourished, the immune system shuts down. In people who are overweight or obese, the immune system becomes hyperactive and causes inflammation. This is particularly concerning in the Philippines, where the 2021 Expanded National Nutrition Survey (ENNS), revealed that 29.5% of Filipino adults are overweight, and 14.8% are obese – a growing trend linked to sedentary lifestyles and poor dietary choices.

Also, as the country enters the rainy season, Filipinos are more prone to illnesses such as the common cold, flu, and other respiratory infections, making it even more important to focus on immune health.

How Nutrition Impacts the Body’s Immune System

There is a tangible connection between the immune system and nutrition. What we eat, where we live, how much we sleep, how we exercise, and even who we live with, are all caused by chemical reactions that can alter our health status.

Added to the mix is the microbiome, which is made up of the microorganisms we depend on to protect us against germs, break down food for energy, produce vital vitamins and bolster our immune system.

The largest part of the immune system ­– approximately 70% of it – is located near the intestines and monitors the intake of food and how the body uses it. This makes it critical for us to consume a balanced diet with the right vitamins, minerals, and nutrients while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

4 Tips to Increase Nutrients that Help Strengthen the Immune System

Eating a balanced diet requires ensuring that there is optimal nutrition intake at a cellular level. Make sure you consume enough of the following nutrients:

  1. Include protein in your daily nutrition.

Also known as the basic building block of the body, protein allows the body to manufacture antibodies that it requires to defend against invading viruses and bacteria. To ensure that we have sufficient levels of protein in our diet, we can eat more healthy protein foods such as fish, poultry, lean meats, soy foods like tofu and tempeh as well as low-fat dairy products.

Vitamins A and C, as well as phytonutrients, are key players in immune system health. It is essential to maintain a daily intake of vitamin C as the body does not produce or store it. Vitamin A supports the health of our skin, tissues of our digestive tract, and respiratory system.

Phytonutrients, which are found in vegetables and fruits, reduce our body’s oxidative stress, which may weaken its ability to fight off illnesses. A number of phytonutrients have been shown to reduce the risk of cancer and cardiovascular diseases, fight inflammation, lower blood pressure, and boost the overall health of our immune system.

  1. Focus on gut health with probiotics and prebiotics.

The digestive system plays a central role in supporting immune function. The intestinal tract is the main route of contact with the external environment and is a pathway that contains the microbiome that aids digestion as well as the absorption of nutrients. Having the right gut bacteria has been associated with benefits such as weight loss, improved digestion, healthier skin, and, most importantly, enhanced immune function, although research in these areas is not conclusive or universally applicable.

Studies have shown that probiotics, which are “good bacteria,” are useful in maintaining the digestive system, and prebiotics – types of fibre that the human body cannot digest – serve as food for these probiotics.

Omega-3 fatty acids, such as DHA and EPA, are healthy and essential types of fat, which can be found in food such as seafood, flax and chia seeds and supplements such as fish oil. Omega-3 fatty acids may enhance the functions of immune cells, which play a large role in both the innate and adaptive system that responds to infections.
