Happening from May 30 to June 1, 2025, at Megatrade Halls 1–3, SM Megamall, the festival will spotlight over 250 MSME exhibitors from across the country, blending culinary tradition with technology and innovation.

The DTI Food Festival 2025 also marks the launch of the DTI Malikhaing Pinoy Website, a key milestone for the Philippine Gastronomy Creative Industry. Known as the “National Gateway to Filipino Creativity and Business,” the website is a technological space for the DTI B2B Marketplace online platform and is designed to connect Filipino MSMEs with a wider market. SM Prime Opens First Mall in Ilocos Norte, 88th in the Philippines

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), one of Southeast Asia’s largest integrated property developers, will open its first mall in Ilocos Norte on May 30, marking the property conglomerate’s 88th shopping mall in the Philippines and its latest push into high-growth regional corridors.

SM City Laoag is strategically located along Airport Road, just minutes from the city center and near Laoag International Airport. Surrounded by established commercial zones and growing residential developments, the mall is poised to become a new urban anchor for Northern Luzon.

The three-level complex offers over 51,000 square meters of gross leasable space. It opens with 90 percent of its space already lease-awarded and is expected to generate approximately 4,000 jobs for Ilocanos across retail, operations and support services.

“The opening of SM City Laoag reinforces our commitment to bring modern, accessible and community-oriented retail experiences to underserved but fast-growing areas,” said SM Prime president Jeffrey Lim. “We’re excited to support the region’s economic momentum.”

Ilocos Norte posted an 8.6 percent economic growth rate in 2024—the fastest among provinces in Region I—driven by gains in services, accommodation and transport.

SM City Laoag features a robust tenant mix, including SM Store, SM Supermarket, SM Cinema, Ace Hardware, Pet Express, Miniso and BDO. Retail and lifestyle brands include Levi’s, Columbia, Adidas, Watsons and Parfois. The mall will also host global and local dining concepts such as TGI Fridays, Vikings, Marugame Udon, Café Amian and Milk Pot.

A central open-air park, “Dap-ayan,” named after the Ilocano word for gathering place, will serve as a community space for events and leisure.

SM Prime is also studying a complementary hotel development in Laoag to tap into the area’s growing tourism and MICE potential, expanding its footprint beyond retail in Northern Luzon.

Globe launched #GoGIVEYourHeart Challenge, its first TikTok for Good campaign in the Philippines,  turning social media engagement into real-world impact through digital generosity.

The challenge puts a spotlight on GoGIVE, Globe Prepaid’s digital advocacy feature accessible via GlobeOne app, where customers opt in to join the program and earn “hearts” by simply using their data.

To encourage participation, Globe created a branded filter on Tiktok that allows netizens to flash their best hand hearts as a digital act of giving.

HONOR and PHINMA Foundation Empower Future Educators with Tablet Donation

Global technology brand HONOR Philippines, in partnership with the PHINMA Foundation, launched its CSR initiative “Pad Your Way to the Future” through the formal donation of 25 HONOR Pad X9a tablets to deserving student scholars. The event was held at the Philippine Normal University – Manila, reaffirming the shared commitment of both organizations to transform lives through education and technology.

“This partnership with the PHINMA Foundation is more than just a formal agreement—it’s a heartfelt commitment to shaping a better future through education. We believe in the power of technology to transform lives, especially when placed in the hands of passionate learners and educators. As part of the event, 25 students supported by PHINMA Foundation through its scholarship programs received their own HONOR Pad X9a tablets, each tailored for modern academic needs with its AI-powered learning features, expansive display, and durable performance.
