Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (MMMC) is partnering with Inspire Healthcare Singapore and the Singapore Nurses Association (SNA) to support the development of its Geriatric Unit, reinforcing the hospital’s commitment to meeting the evolving healthcare needs of older adults in Southern Luzon.

The collaboration aims to strengthen MMMC’s geriatric care capabilities through specialized training, knowledge exchange, and the adoption of appropriate international best practices. Beyond developing facilities, the initiative focuses on equipping healthcare professionals, strengthening care delivery systems, and building the foundation for sustainable, patient-centered geriatric services.

“For Mary Mediatrix Medical Center, this partnership is more than the establishment of a new unit. It is about building a stronger system of care for our older adults by investing in our people, strengthening our capabilities, and learning from international best practices,” said Dr. Artemio Cabrera Salvador, MMMC Chief Operating Officer.

Recognizing the growing and evolving healthcare needs of an aging population, the collaboration with Inspire Healthcare aims to explore opportunities to strengthen nutritional care as part of a broader, holistic, and multidisciplinary approach to supporting the health and well-being of older adults.

“Good nutrition plays an important role in maintaining health and improving quality of life, particularly among older adults and individuals managing chronic conditions. Through this partnership with Mary Mediatrix Medical Center, we hope to share our experience and expertise while exploring collaborative approaches that support more comprehensive and holistic geriatric care,” said Jasmine Goh, Group CEO of Inspire Healthcare.”

The Singapore Nurses Association, represented by its President, Samantha Ong, will share its expertise and provide geriatric care training for MMMC nurses and other healthcare professionals. “Our role is to share with them our decades of experience and best practices in geriatric care, to help them take care of the elderly in the Philippines,” said Ong.

Ong emphasized the capabilities of Filipino nurses and the value of sharing established practices to help strengthen elderly care in the Philippines.

According to Jose Ronaldo De Los Santos, MMMC President and CEO, developing specialized geriatric services is timely as the country prepares for the healthcare needs of an aging population.  “We are thankful to international partners like Inspire and the Singapore Nurses Association who would be sharing their knowledge and best practices with us,” he said.

Geriatric care addresses the interconnected medical, functional, and personal needs of older adults. Through a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach, healthcare professionals can better support patients’ health, comfort, independence, dignity, and overall well-being.

For MMMC, the partnership marks an important step toward its long-term vision of becoming a trusted provider of comprehensive geriatric care in Southern Luzon, bringing specialized, responsive healthcare closer to older adults and their families.

Anchored in its guiding principle, Alagang May Malasakit, MMMC remains committed to investing in its people and strengthening its capabilities to provide compassionate, quality care that respects the unique needs and dignity of every patient.
